Serena Williams easily dismissed Jankovic in China, to win her 10th title of the year

Serena Williams easily dismissed the challenge of Jelena Jankovic to win the China Open in Beijing, her 10th title of an incredible 2013 season.

Registering her 73rd win of the calendar year, Williams dominated en route to a 6-2 6-2 victory against the former world No. 1.

There was a slight scare for Williams in the second set, as she pulled up clutching her back and was promptly broken by Jankovic. But after Jankovic, bizarrely, took an injury timeout immediately following that break, Williams rattled off five consecutive games to win the China Open for the first time since 2004.

“I’m really excited – I didn’t think I’d win this tournament,” said Williams. “Congratulations to Jelena for such a great tournament as well.

“I really love tennis so much and it’s fans like the ones here in China who are so exciting to come to. The fans make me want to play, and they’re so great here, so coming here is such a great opportunity.”
