Africa never asked for your pity,
We never asked for your hypocrisy,
Africa never begged you to come in your ships on your voyages of theivery,
Africa never asked for your photographers to take pictures of impoverished kids,
And tell the world of your fabricated version of our story..our history,
Because unlike you would believe, poverty doesn't always equivocate suffering,
And hunger does not always mean starvation,
Africa never asked for your campaigns and your posters in your country,
While you choke and oppress our people who want to be educated and help rise within your veins, your souls,
Painting us as a hopeless place and yourself as a knight in shinning armour,
Coming to rescue us,stealing from us with your inbalanced trade laws,
You are so busy playing the big brother that you are now blocking the sun,
Reaching your left hand out to pull us out of our pit of poverty,
When you hold a ladder in your right arm,
No Africa never asked for your pity,
We never asked to be pitied or looked down upon,
As the example which you use when your people try to sound deep and charitable,
We are Africa and we are strong and we are proud,
We hunger for success and progress like we starve for food,
Africa never asked for your pity.
