Stop electing leaders without education - Sanusi tells Nigerians

- The emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, says people without education fail to educate the masses after assuming office
- Sanusi advises the federal government to prioritise education by using the trillions of naira it spends on subsidising petroleum products in educating the young ones in the country
- The monarch blames northern leaders for failing to provide the enabling environment for children in north to attend schools
The emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged Nigerians to refrain from electing politicians without education into public offices.
The monarch gave the advice on Saturday, October 27, when he spoke at the 6th convocation ceremony of Nile University of Nigeria in Abuja, The Nation reports.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor said people without education fail to provide education after assuming office.
“We have to take an interest in the quality of our leaders and representatives in the level of education. If you look around this country at many levels of leadership, we have elected and we have chosen to elect people who do not have an education. And because they are not educated, they cannot give an education,” he said.
